Hi, welcome. I’ve titled this blog “Simplicity and Focus applied to Rigging, Tech Art and Artist Management”. Check out the About section to read why. I like to discuss, teach, lecture and present character rigging, animation and game development topics. Read about my previous speaking engagements on the Speak section. Feel free to contact me to inquire about speaking or teaching.
If you’ve found this you’re probably aware of the other sites I’m involved in. chadmoore.net is my homepage, my digital business card, if you will. I’ve started publishing a book called “Art and Animation Work: A job hunting primer for 3D artists“. My hope is that students can utilize the resource to understand the highs and lows of the hiring process in art and animation industries.
Rigging Dojo is in the middle of our first session of 2011. It’s going really well. One of my students is working on shot pipelines in motion builder. He’s setting up the shots utilizing xml and python to trigger loading/unloading, etc. The other two students I have are diving deep into all kinds of Maya related rigging topics. Our student/mentor forums are blowing up lately. Here are some fun quotes…
“Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.”
- in regards to the pymel versus maya.cmds debate. Seriously people, what you lose in the (very few and specific) use cases where pymel is slower you reap 10 fold in dev speed and code reuse.
Thanks for the link, some fun looking work, Giant bears on fire!
- No comment on that one.
Turbine is ramping up on super secret cool stuff that I can’t talk about yet and continuing to be a driving force in the free to play / subscription hybrid MMO business. LOTRO and DDO have many tricksey tricks up their sleeves.
Thanks for visiting.
